WALKER Portable ash meter

Description

The WALKER ash meter is designed for rapid, mobile measurement of ash content in coal directly at the storage site, e.g., in user stockpiles or railway wagons. The WALKER ash meter also allows for an estimation of the calorific value of the tested material, provided that the moisture parameter is entered in advance.

The measurement method used in the device is based on detecting the intensity of natural gamma radiation emitted by the coal. This technique offers several advantages that make the instrument particularly well-suited for use in mines, power plants, and smaller facilities utilizing coal.

Advantages of the measurement method include:

  • No artificial radiation source (eliminating the risk of radiation accidents)
  • Low supply voltage, eliminating the risk of electric shock
  • Simple measurement procedure and relatively short duration of a single test
